Hello Montevideo Families,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!

I am so excited to welcome our students and families back soon, and love the buzz of excitement that each new year brings!  Teachers and staff are already here at Montevideo to collaborate, create inspiring classrooms,  and prepare for the year ahead.  They work so hard for our students and I am grateful for this dedicated group of educators.

I am also grateful for the ongoing efforts of our two main volunteer organizations.  The Montevideo Education Foundation (Mustang Fund) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) are also planning for the success and well being of our community.  These volunteers plan the activities and fundraisers that will bring our community together and provide the dollars to create an all-encompassing educational experience that benefits each child.

Our theme for the 23-24 school year is, “REACH for Success.”  The focus of education will be based upon deep learning and innovation as well as the social and emotional well-being of our students. We will also highlight the following character traits; Respect, Empathy, Adaptability, Collaboration, and Honesty (R.E.A.C.H.).  Other cornerstones include our ongoing commitment to enrichment through art and music and having additional Instructional Assistant professionals to facilitate small groups where students will receive personalized support.  I look forward to sharing this in more detail at our back to school night on Thursday, August 10.

We would not be such an outstanding school without a strong community connection.  There are many ways to get involved here at Montevideo and there is a place for everybody.  Please reach out to me and we can chat about where your gifts and interests may best be directed.  Our staff, our teachers, and our students value and appreciate your presence!
